SAS Construction Chemicals Ltd. invites aspiring and competent applicants for the Junior Finance Officer Position.

Job Summary:

The Junior Finance Officer has overall roles and responsibility of ensuring the proper preparation of payment and receivable, posting and validating financial transaction in compliance with the SAS and its sister companies’ Financial Policies and Procedures.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Accounting and Finance:

  • Prepare payments, invoices and all relevant financial documents in accordance with the SAS and its sister companies Financial Policies and Procedures. 
  • Ensure that payment requests are sufficiently supported by source documents and required authorizations are in place.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely posting of all financial transactions within SAS and its sister companies and ensures the application of proper accounting controls and uniformity with financial regulation, rules and policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly statutory tax obligations (VAT, Withholding and employee income tax and others) and make payments.
  • Prepare staff advances and maintain advance accounts system in order to ensure complete and accurate records of all.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations (bank, sales and others) in consultation with the senior accountant
  • Act as custodian of all financial documents-payment vouchers, checks; cash receipt vouchers, petty cash payment voucher, withholding tax receipts, credit sales and other relevant ones.

Treasury:

  • Act as petty cash custodian and ensure proper replenishment and expenditure as per the financial policies and procedures.
  • Check all the regular and retention bank accounts on a daily basis and ensure proper balance is maintained to support payments. S/he should make sure timely transfer of cash from the retention account to the regular account as and when needed. S/he is required to protect the SAS and its sister companies from loses related to exchange rates.
  • Ensure all SAS and its sister companies’ payments are issued to accounts with sufficient balance and keep track of daily cash flow status in each account.
  • Responsible for physically collecting checks and depositing to the SAS and its sister companies accounts.

Budget and Reporting:

  • Provide daily cash flow report for the Finance Manager.
  • Leadership and Management Competences:
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to play actively in a team and build shared visions.
  • Strong demonstrating personal effectiveness and delivering results in teamwork
  • Strong skills in planning, organizing and reporting 
  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning and problem solving.
  • Being proactive and able to see risks and knows how to deal with.
  • Ability to perform under stress with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple tasks at a time in calm and organized manner.
  • Have an attitude stimulating integration of diversity and inclusiveness.

Technical Competences:

  • Mastery in Peachtree accounting software and MS applications.
  • Strong proficiency in filling an information retrieval both in hard and electronic copy.
  • Authoritative grasp of tax regulations and GAAP.
  • Able to understand contract and procurement procedures and align finance operations in accordance.
  • Internal:
  • Reports to the Finance Manager and works in close collaboration with the Marketing and HR Department    
  • Communicates with all staff and customers.

External:

 

  • Represents the SAS and its sister companies to Banking Managers, local government staff (taxation and regulation related) and External Auditors.

Job Requirements:

Education, work experience and language:

  • BA in Accounting, Finance and Management Accounting and related fields.
  • 2 years and above experience in accounting. Sound experience in working with computerized accounting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Proficiency in Spoken and Written English and Amharic languages is a must
