Job Description:

The Mitchel Group, Inc. (TMG), a US-based organization was awarded by USAID/Ethiopia to implement the Transform: Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Adapting (Transform: MELA) for 5-year (2017-2022). The focus of Transform: MELA is to provide and synthesize high-quality monitoring and evaluation data for USAID/Ethiopia, which will guide the U.S. government (USG) and the Government of Ethiopia (GOE) in adaptive learning and management of their reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health portfolios. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the DCOP, the Logistics and Transport Assistant will provide logistics, transport, and administrative support to the Transform: MELA team and will take charge of the routine maintenance and repair of all Transform: MELA Assets i.e. project vehicle, office equipment, etc. The responsibilities include the following:

  • Performs all driving and transportation related functions.
  • Assist in maintenance and repair of project vehicle.
  • Assist the DCOP in supervising major office repair work.
  • Provide logistics assistance in the courier and handling of all incoming and outgoing correspondence for the Transform: MELA office (letters, faxes and courier) and manage the assigned filing and storage duties.
  • Assist in printing and photocopy and collation of project related documents and training materials
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Transform: MELA project assets.
  • Responsible for developing and updating a maintenance monitoring log for assigned project assets.
  • Responsible for quarterly updates and reporting for assigned project fixed asset inventory.
  • Provide direct support as required to the COP, DCOP, Technical and Finance staff in program implementation.
  • Obtains a weekly/daily list of official schedules from the Team and Administrative Associate.
  • Responsible for completing the Vehicle Request Form for approval by the DCOP.
  • Maintains a detailed logbook of the vehicle movement and ensures that any officer taken on a trip signs the logbook at the end of each journey.
  • Ensures security of passengers while in transit, i.e. use of seat belts.
  • Work with DCOP to ensure that the vehicle is equipped with emergency and first aid kits.
  • Provide logistics and delivery support to the Transform: MELA Team
  •  Perform all other duties and task that may be assigned DCOP or COP. 

Job Requirements:

REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least eight (8) year driving experience working with International NGOs/Organizations. 
  • Minimum 3rd grade driving license
  • Completed secondary education
  • Diploma in auto mechanics
  • Excellent knowledge of Ethiopia’s geography and road networks
  • Ability to perform basic written communication such as maintaining logbook and preparation of purchase orders, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of local road traffic regulations
  • Clean driving record and Valid Drivers’ License to drive motor cars

REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive and routine tasks and duties
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work possibly under time constraints
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in vehicle repair
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of security issues
  • Ability to function as part of a dynamic team
  • Reliability, honesty and trustworthiness
