By teaching farmers to view farming as a business, we increase yields to improve nutrition, generate income, and build industries.
In just the last three years (2014-2016), Fintrac has:
Through proven technologies and practices, we rapidly increase smallholder yields to multiply incomes by two, three, and even ten times in one year. This income fuels local economies and drastically improves healthcare, education, and overall quality of life for entire communities. We believe sustainable food security is inherently linked to income generation, so we train families, producer groups, and local service provides to treat farming as a commercial enterprise.
Fintrac coordinates technical assistance delivery to farmers and local enterprises through partner alliances with commercial enterprises, national and regional governments, educational and research institutes, NGOs, producer organizations, and industry associations. We also have established loan facilities, grant mechanisms, and extension courses to support these local service providers and improve their timeliness, effectiveness, and sustainability.
Our teams have extensive knowledge of the latest field technologies to strengthen every link in the farm-to-market-to-table chain. Highly trained in Fintrac methodologies, they include agronomists, economists, nutrition experts, postharvest handling and processing technologists, livestock specialists, experts in climate change and natural resource management, and market development and logistics specialists.
Fintrac provides technical assistance and training at every point along the value chain, from varietal trials and technology innovations to product, storage, and market development. We work closely with seed and other input suppliers, processors, traders, banks, exporters, freight forwarders, supermarkets and distributors to strengthen commercial synergies, integrate smallholders into supply channels, and improve competition. In addition to technical and logistics support, we offer guidance in investment strategies, business and financial planning, certification options, and contract negotiations.
