began life as “African Expeditions”, providing visitors to East Africa with integrated logistics, food supply and catering, and transport services for safari holidays and expeditions. On safari AFEX created a comfortable − even luxurious – “home-away-from-home” for our guests, providing high-quality accommodation and catering services in remote parts of Kenya’s national parks and game reserves. Our expeditionary and ‘can do’ spirit remains from those early days, and continues to guide AFEX’s approach to projects.

From these adventurous beginnings as expedition operators, AFEX has grown and diversified into a project-oriented company in response to the increasing global demand for African metal, minerals, and energy, coupled with Africa’s explosive infrastructural growth, all of which has increased the demand for safe and reliable remote site facilities and associated support services.

Now AFEX undertakes Design / Build camp construction projects in support of Oil & Gas clients, in addition to Government, UN, and Humanitarian clients, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating in a number of African countries. Our clients tend to work in remote and often challenging locations, deploying staff who spend long periods of time away from their own homes. Our clients recognize that the provision of safe, secure and comfortable accommodation promotes the efficiency and positive morale of their staff: key factors in the maintenance of a safe, efficient and productive project site. AFEX continues to create the “home-away-from-home” comfort and security that characterized our early management of African expeditions and holidays for foreign visitors to Kenya.

Today, AFEX meets our clients’ needs by designing and supplying rapidly deployable camp solutions enabling companies to establish operations in the toughestremote site conditions. AFEX helps our clients across the full life-cycle of a remote site facility, from initial camp and operations design, to the provision of built structures, and a comprehensive range of integrated remote site support services, including food supply and catering, and fuel supply and power generation within post-conflict environments. AFEX also provides logistics services to the Construction, Engineering, and Oil/Gas industries in compliance with ISO 9001/ OHSAS 18001 requirements.

Our past experience includes the provision and operation of camps in inaccessible and hostile areas within Kenya and South Sudan, and we have assisted our clients in business planning and investment analysis for start-up business projects in remote and post-conflict environments. AFEX has affiliations with numerous NGOs and commercial organizations, including fuel, temporary power, and equipment suppliers, and we maintain strong links to security providers.
