Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic international, non-governmental organization which works to reduce violence and protect civilians in situations of violent conflict and its aftermath, mostly through the deployment on the ground of multinational teams of civilians.

 

NP launched its civilian protection programme in South Sudan in 2009, and works to prevent communal violence and to build the capacity of vulnerable communities to maintain their own security. The South Sudan Programme currently has projects in Central and Western Equatoria, Lakes, Unity and Jonglei states, and has plans to expand activities in the near future.
