The United Insurance Company S.C. was established in 1994 with the objectives of transacting all Life and Non- Life insurance, reinsurance and related business along the best commercial and professional tradition by providing the most complete and secures insurance cover and offering all these at reasonable and competitive prices.
Following its recent merger with Lion Insurance Company SC, the company is currently owned by more than 200 shareholders and operates via sixteen outlets. UNIC-ETHIOPIA has made first class reinsurance arrangements with some of the major reinsurers in the world. Its reinsurance treaties afford substantial underwriting capacity to enable it automatically accept large risks of every description.

The Company presently transacts all classes of insurance, Life and Non-Life. Its most recent product introduction is known as UNIC’s MEDEXIN PLAN (Medical Expenses Insurance). Initially, the product has been tailored for the domestic market. However, it is intended that in the near future, the MEDEXIN PLAN shall include such facilities as evacuation and treatment abroad.
