The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy.
FAO is also a source of knowledge and information. We help developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensures good nutrition for all.
The overall focus of FAO in Kenya has continued to be on policy, strategy, and programme assistance, food security information analysis, donor coordination, linking public and private sector efforts, and emergency preparedness and response.
FAO is engaged with key sector ministries, particularly through the Agricultural Sector Coordination Unit (ASCU) steering group and Technical Committees in order to articulate its effective support to the implementation of the Strategy for Revitalisation of Agriculture (SRA), now dubbed Agricultural Sector Development Strategy (ASDS).
FAO is also strongly engaged with the Ministries of Special Programmes and Northern Kenya through the Kenya Food Security Meeting (KFSM) providing support to Food Security Information Systems and Early Warning Systems.
